One question I get asked over and over is, What software do you use on a daily basis? Since I am an advocate of Open Source and Free Software I try to find Open Source of Free Software packages that suit my needs. Below I will give a list of the packages that I use and a small abstract of the packages. My main Operating Systems that I use is still Windows XP therefore all the packages must be able to run under Windows XP. --- click link for more

Thanks for the info. To be honest there weren't any there I wasn't aware of with the exception of Sunbird. But it is always nice to find more open source and free applications. A couple other great ones I use regularly are Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net) which is a really great audio editor, and Irfanview (www.irfanview.com IIRC) which is a great, fast image viewer.

Thanks ... seems I have to update the article since I also use Irfanview ... I am sure that if I scratch around on my hard drive will find some more.

Another one I would add to that list is 1st Page 2000 by Evrsoft. It is an amazingly full featured and powerful HTML editor. I don't know more than the basics of HTML and how it works, but have been able to use 1st Page for some pretty cool looking stuff. The best thing about it is that it isn't a WYSIWYG editor, but has lots of automated tasks. You can modify fonts, build tables, etc. using dialogs like in Word or whatnot, but what you actually see happening is the raw HTML being written in the page. This has helped me figure out how different tags work, how to manipulate them and such a lot. Great software really.
